So it's spring - does that mean it'll stop raining?

With Wednesday being the official start of spring, dairy farmers hope it'll also be the start of some drier, warmer weather.

Many farms went into winter in very poor shape after a drought, but have since had more than enough rain to make up for dry conditions.

Federated Farmers' dairy vice-chair, Willy Leferink, who farms at Ashburton, says most farms have recovered from the drought but now need some sun to dry out.

Dairy chair Lachlan McKenzie, who farms in Bay of Plenty, says that while it is very wet, pastures in the past three months have made a remarkable recovery and milk production is up slightly on last year.
