More meetings planned for rural quake areas

More support meetings are planned for rural areas of Canterbury that may have missed out on earlier gatherings following the earthquake.

The Rural Recovery Group in Canterbury hopes to hold the first of these new community meetings within the next week or two.

Rural Women New Zealand national councillor Kerry Maw says they want to make sure that all quake victims are getting the information they need.

The organisation has been allocated some funding to hold community support events in Canterbury.

The first of these has already been held in Kakahu, for migrant dairy workers.

Ms Maw says Rural Women NZ members are also pitching in to provide earthquake relief in the way of farm work, child care and housework.

She says members have also offered holiday accommodation to give quake-stressed families a break.
