Wool prices and demand are taking a hammering from the turmoil in world financial markets.
Prices fell across the board at Thursday's wool sale in Christchurch and more than 40% of the 10,000 bales offered for auction failed to sell.
Wool Services International describes trading conditions as extremely difficult.
