The rural community in Canterbury is being asked to participate in a survey on last month's 7.1 magnitude earthquake.
The study, led by the University of Canterbury, is looking to find out what the quake felt like in rural areas.
It will also assess the type of damage the quake caused and how it may have changed water resources on or beneath farms.
Canterbury University scientist Tom Wilson says the information will be used to advise the Canterbury Rural Recovery Group on the state of the rural community as well as help them develop a clearer picture on groundwater conditions and fault models.
Dr Wilson says they also want to hear about peoples experiences when the earthquake hit.
The survey can be accessed on the Selwyn District Council website.
