The Ministry of Agriculture's sustainable farming fund has notched up 10 years.

The success of its grassroots approach has been acknowledged at a gathering at the Beehive.

Over the decade, almost $100 million in Government funding, matched by community and industry contributions has been invested in almost 700 projects.

Fund manager Dennis Packer says the economic, environmental and social paybacks have been well proven.

A wide variety of projects has benefited from the fund. They range from reducing the impact of dairy effluent on mussel farming in Golden Bay, to reducing spray drift from kiwifruit orchards and tackling an aphid that threatened the lettuce industry.
