Kiwifruit merger deferred

8:00 am on 28 November 2010

Kiwifruit packing firm Satara Co-operative has temporarily shelved a plan to merge with Eastpac because of the PSA bacterial disease.

Satara says that because of uncertainty around the potential impact of PSA, the original price and deal structure are now under review and will no longer be put to a shareholder vote next month.

The company says discussions are continuing and a new deal may be presented to shareholders for approval early next year.
