Egg producer signs Asia contract

The largest cage-free egg producer in New Zealand has signed contracts to sell eggs in Singapore and Hong Kong early next year.

Masterton-based Henergy Eggs is already exporting to the Cook Islands.

Chief executive Darren Perry says there's a huge consumer interest in Asia in buying cage-free produced eggs, and the company is ideally placed to help meet the demand.

Mr Perry says the company will initially air freight 2000 dozen eggs a week to two retail chains, but is confident sales will grow in time.
