Feedback sought on draft quad bike safety guidelines

The Department of Labour is seeking feedback on its draft guidelines for the safe use of quad bikes on farms.

The guidelines support a safety campaign launched by the department earlier this month that aims to reduce the unacceptably high rate of accidents on farms involving quad bikes.

On average, 850 people are injured each year riding quad bikes on farms, and five die.

The department's chief adviser for health and safety, Dr Geraint Emrys, says the guidelines are relevant to farmers, foresters and to the horticulture and viticulture industries.
