Katikati and Horowhenua have joined the list of kiwifruit growing areas with orchards affected by the vine killing disease Psa.

The new independent industry organisation, Kiwifruit Vine Health Inc, says test results over the weekend confirmed positive findings.

To date, 107 orchards have tested positive for Psa, with 44 of those growing only green kiwifruit.

Most have initial leaf spotting symptoms but 30 have cut out infected vines and three have removed significant areas of canopy.

Three quarters of the cases are within 23 kilometres of Te Puke in Bay of Plenty.

There are also cases in Waikato, Tauranga, Whakatane Edgecumbe, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Golden Bay and Motueka.
