The strong demand for wool has continued at the final sales of the year, this week.
New Zealand Wool Services International says prices were generally firm or slightly higher and 97% of the almost 20,000 bales of North and South Island wool on offer were cleared.
Prices rose by 1-2 % for a small end-of-season offering of mid micron wools.
Fine crossbred fleece and shears prices firmed while coarse crossbred fleece and shears rose by up to 2%.
A nominal offering of lambs' wool was 1% higher.
The first sale of 2011 is scheduled for Thursday 13 January.
