Varied conditions for lambs

9:47 am on 31 January 2011

Lambs are doing well in southern Canterbury though they have been going to the works earlier than usual in western Southland due to the dry conditions there.

The first ewe fair of the season was held at Temuka on Wednesday.

Country Life reports bidding began at $100. A pen of Coopworth two-tooths sold for $197.

The top price of $265 was for a pen of Border Romney two-tooths, with 16 pens exceeding $200.
