Turners and Growers opens Fiji distribution centre

10:20 am on 15 March 2011

Fresh produce company Turners and Growers is opening its own distribution centre in Fiji to improve the supply chain for suppliers and customers.

General manager of markets Alistair Petrie says the centre, with cool chain facilities, will open next week for imported and exported produce.

He says it will make it easier for New Zealand growers to sell their fruit and vegetables to the country, improve the relationship with customers there and help give New Zealand growers financial security.

Mr Petrie says the Fiji fruit and vegetable market is worth about $25 million a year.

The first container of produce has been shipped and will be sold through the company's new distribution centre early next week.
