Ongoing delays for PSA infected kiwifruit growers

6:13 am on 11 April 2011

Kiwifruit Vine Health says delays in growers receiving written confirmation that their crops are infected by the PSA disease, still have not been resolved.

The agency which was set up in early December, is responsible for minimising the effects of the disease and for enabling growers to re-establish their orchards.

Delays between PSA tests being done and growers receiving a letter in the mail, started several months ago.

The agency says it's frustrating that the issue is still going.

General manager John Burke says there is still a backlog of samples which they are trying to get tests from.

More than 200 orchards have been identified as having PSA, and 79 hectares of infected vines have been cut back.
