Time for action seen on irrigation strategy

1:27 pm on 11 April 2011

Irrigation New Zealand says now that the Land & Water Forum has rissued its final report, it's time to get on and implement the strategies.

The forum which the Government set up in 2009, with representatives from 58 organisations, presented its report to the Ministers of Environment and Agriculture late last week.

It has six main themes, ranging from the need to improve water quality, to the Government providing more support and clearer expectations to regional decision makers.

With the issues identified and agreed on, Irrigation NZ chairman Graeme Sutton says it's time for action.
