Gibbs not seeking re-election

6:26 pm on 12 April 2011

Turners & Growers chairman Tony Gibbs is to leave the position in June after 16 years in the job.

Mr Gibbs issued a brief statement to the stock exchange on Monday, saying he will not stand for re-election at the company's annual meeting.

Guiness Peat Group, which owns 66% of Turners & Growers, dumped Mr Gibbs as its New Zealand director in last June, after he publicly opposed its plans to split its Australian arm into a separate business.

GPG's stake in Turners & Growers is now for sale after the board agreed to sell assets.

Shares in Turners and Growers were at $1.61 on Monday.
