One of the leading Angus cattle breeders in New Zealand says the breed is flourishing thanks to recent marketing initiatives such as McAngus burgers and Angus Pure.

Hamish Williams from Turihaua Station north of Gisborne, says consumers perceive Angus beef as being of better quality than other breeds and he is confident that will strengthen further this year.

He says the long-term international market price for beef is firm and this gives farmers the confidence that if they buy an Angus bull they will get a good return from his progeny.
