A sheep and cattle farming couple from Flemington, south east of Waipukurau, have won the coveted title of Silver Fern Farms Hawke's Bay Farmer of the Year.
Tom and Anna Clouston, who run a 640 hectare property, received their trophy and a cheque for $10,000 at a function in Hastings on Thursday.
The competitionis run by Hawke's Bay A&P Society and is in its 39th year.
At the same function, Radio New Zealand reporter Heugh Chappell received the Laurie Dowling Memorial Award in recognition of an outstanding contribution to agriculture in Hawke's Bay.
Earlier this week, he received the Queen's Service Medal awarded in the New Year's Honours List for services to broadcasting and the community.
