The regional council in Hawke's Bay has introduced irrigation bans, because of the effects of a drier than normal late spring.
The council has banned the taking of water from two areas of the Tukituki River and placed restrictions on five farms that take water from the Ngaruroro river.
It has also imposed a ban on irrigation from six streams on the Heretaunga plains
