A virtual farmers market has been launched in Hastings to help small Maori producers sell their goods directly to consumers.

The Aunty's Garden network is an internet marketplace that will offer products ranging from organic vegetables and yogurt to stone carvings and olive oil.

The project has been developed by the commercial arm of Ngati Kahungunu, Kahungunu Asset Holding Company, with funding from Te Puni Kokiri.

Kahungunu Asset Holding manager Aramanu Ropiha says Aunty's Garden is about encouraging Maori entrepreneurship for economic development.
