AgResearch is making changes to its management structure.
New chief executive Tom Richardson has decided to collapse the previous seven general managers into four executive director positions.
Only one of the current seven managers, Warren McNab, has been confirmed in the new structure, after being appointed science director at the institute.
Applied biotechnologies general manager Jimmy Suttie, who has been in charge of the institute's genetic-engineering work, has not been offered a position.
The three other new roles are:
a business performance and finance director
a partnership and programme director who will manage the relationships with AgResearch's clients
a shared services director responsible for information technology and human resources.
Radio New Zealand understands chief financial officer Geoff Balme is leaving the institute this week.
