Date set for electronic records for rural patients

Electronic patient records will be introduced to rural areas by 2014.

But National Health IT Board director Graeme Osborne told a rural health symposium in Wellington that it's unlikely New Zealand will move to a single electronic health record system covering both family doctors and hospitals.

The symposium is about closer links between care in the community and hospitals.
