Vine disease spraying subsidy extended

1:47 pm on 2 June 2011

The independent body Kiwifruit Vine Health, which has the responsibility of overseeing a management plan to control the bacterial disease PSA, has extended its spray subsidy until the end of this month.

General manager John Burke says growers in the whole Te Puke region qualify, as well as zones in Gisborne and Nuhaka, covering more than 5,500 hectares of orchard.

Mr Burke says there's a real opportunity to reduce inoculum levels using copper-based sprays.
