Kiwifruit picking finished in Nelson/Motueka

8:01 am on 4 June 2011

Kiwifruit picking has finally finished in the Nelson/Motueka regions and there's a week or so of packing left.

Despite having a few weeks of wet weather recently, Country Life reports it's been a reasonably good season with yields up on last year.

Pruning will be the next job, along with winter copper spraying.

Pretty well all the gold kiwifruit in Bay of Plenty has been harvested, though the green fruit still has a couple more weeks to go. Country Life reports pickers have been going like mad.
