A 25-year-old Canterbury dairy farm manager showed plenty of willpower to win the national Young Farmer contest at the weekend.
Will Grayling manages a 1600 cow dairy farm in the Ashburton area.
He has a Masters of Applied Science from Lincoln University and was a first time contestant in the grand final.
Mr Grayling persevered over three days of gruelling technical and practical competition in the grand final in Masterton.
He held off a late challenge by Tim van de Molen from Waikato - Bay of Plenty in the final question round on Saturday evening to win the contest - and its $62,000 prize package - by just seven points.
