Wool prices down

8:20 am on 5 August 2011

Wool prices have fallen at this week's combined North and South Island sale due to an increase in supply.

Exporters say that, despite a slightly better exchange rate, most wool types lost between 1% and 3% because of larger than normal stocks at a time of limited overseas demand.

More than 9,500 bales were auctioned at Thursday's sale and about three-quarters of those were sold.
