Popular beliefs debunked by maize research

1:02 pm on 19 September 2011

The Foundation for Arable Research says four years of maize trials in Waikato, have disproved popular beliefs among growers about paddock preparation and the way seed needs to be sown.

The trials involved conventional cultivation, strip tillage and direct drilling.

Maize research co-ordinator Diana Mathers says the foundation's challenge is to convince growers to change the habits of a lifetime and take on board the research results.
