Fertiliser company drops its prices

Ballance Agri-nutrients has lowered the price of all of its main products, effective from Monday.

Last month Ballance announced it was offering discounts on its phosphate fertilisers, and says that in addition to that discount it has also dropped the price of some of its other fertilisers.

The changes will mean that its superten phosphate product will now cost just over $430, DAP is just under $1000, urea is just below $700 and its serpentine magnesium-based product is around $415.

Chief executive Larry Bilodeau says although the prices do not reflect what the co-operative paid for the products, it felt it was important to cut prices as quickly as possible.

He says the co-operative was due to carry out a pricing review at the beginning of March, but this has effectively been brought forward.

The other major fertiliser co-operative Ravensdown announced similar price cuts last month.
