New Zealand sheep dog triallists have won a Test against Australia held at the Auckland Domain.

New Zealand won both legs of the two-day contest and finished more than 85 points ahead of Australia.

The trans-Tasman Test, an annual home and away event, was staged in central Auckland as part of a rural sports programme coinciding with the final week of the Rugby World Cup.

Speed shearing and wood chopping also featured during the week.

Organiser Steve Hollander of Cutting Edge Sports says the honours were fairly evenly spread in the wood chopping and sawing contests so far.
