Northern milk production breaking records

Production records continue to be broken in the dairy industry.

DairyNZ says Waikato farmers have had their best season ever, generating nearly $3.5 billion in revenue.

Chairman John Luxton says the past year's national record for milk production was due to good autumn weather and an increase in production per cow, particularly in Northland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty.

Farmers in Northland produced 10% more milk than last year, while Bay of Plenty and Waikato milk production increased by 5% and 6.5% respectively.
