A Hawke's Bay chardonnay has been named champion wine at this year's Air New Zealand wine awards.
The Villa Maria Single Vineyard Keltern Hawke's Bay Chardonnay, 2010 vintage also won the champion chardonnay trophy and sustainable wine trophies.
Hawke's Bay and Marlborough each took six trophies, Martinborough received three trophies, and the remaining three trophies were awarded to wines from the Nelson, Central Otago and Auckland regions.
Twenty-three Pure Elite Gold Medals were also awarded for sustainable production, up from 13 last year.
