Wine industry maturity welcomed

6:54 am on 5 March 2009

Signs of maturity are appearing in the New Zealand wine industry.

Wine Institute director Terry Dunleavy says this has been shown in an agreement by the industry to trim production this year to balance supply and demand.

There was a surplus of sauvignon blanc produced in Marlborough last year.

Mr Dunleavy says everyone has accepted the need to limit crops to retain quality and get a good return.
