Canberra coach wants action over referee blunders

2:52 pm on 9 March 2012

Canberra Raiders coach David Furner's urging the NRL to have a look at adjusting the for-and-against points system, so clubs that lose tries through refereeing blunders are adequately compensated.

His call comes after a video referee incorrectlly awarded a try to the Melbourne Storm in their win against the Raiders last week, a decision NRL referees boss Bill Harriagn labeled unacceptable.

The Storm went on to win the game 24-19.

Furner says re-calibrating the for-and-against tallies could mean the difference between a club making the finals or not.

Furner's not said whether he'll directly approach the NRL, but says it should be an issue up for discussion.
