The Blues winger Rene Ranger has been cited following a dangerous tackle in their 29-23 Super Rugby win over the Bulls in Pretoria this morning.
Ranger was yellow and white carded after tackling the Bulls winger Bjorn Basson while he crossed for a try late in the game.
The Citing Commissioner has now decided the incident was late and dangerous and in his opinion the incident had met the Red Card threshold for foul play.
The Citing is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Mike Heron.
The Blues are already short of backs in South Africa and another player is likely to be called up ahead of next weekend's match against the Stormers in Cape Town.
