Ranger suspended for two matches

The Blues player Rene Ranger has been suspended for two Super rugby matches for a late and dangerous tackle in the final minute of his side's win over the Bulls in Pretoria at the weekend.

Ranger tackled Bulls winger Bjorn Basson late and without using his arms, after Basson had scored a try with Ranger given both a yellow card and a white card by referee Steve Walsh.

The white card meant the incident was refered to the judiciary and Ranger has plead guilty to the charge.

It means he'll miss the Blues matches against the Stormers this weekend in Capetown and the Hurricanes the following week in Auckland.
