Webber fighting fit for new grand prix season

The Australian Formula One driver Mark Webber is fitter than ever for the opening round of the new season, his home grand prix in Melbourne this weekend.

Already one of motorsport's leanest and fittest drivers, the 35-year-old Red Bull driver has arrived in Melbourne lighter and hungrier than ever, to give himself the best possible shot of beating his double world champion team mate Sebastian Vettel

The team boss Christian Horner feels Webber is sure to be a contender again after a disappointing 2011 season in which the final race in Brazil brought his only victory.

No Australian has won his home grand prix and Webber's contract runs out at the end of this year.
