The Chiefs coach Dave Rennie says he's not satisfied with his side's performance on Friday night but admits he's happy with the overall position the team's in.
The Chiefs clinched a last minute 29-22 win against the ACT Brumbies in Mount Maunganui, thanks to a try to centre Jackson Willison.
A draw was looking a likely proposition with four minutes to go after the Brumbies scored their first try of the night through lock Sam Carter to even the game up at 22-22.
But a simple mistake by the Brumbies in the following kick-off gifted the Chiefs a line-out and Willison ended up the beneficiary when he crossed in the left corner with just a minute left on the clock.
The seven-point victory now makes it three in a row for the rampaging Chiefs and three from four games so far this season, while also maintaining their unbeaten record at the Mount Maunganui ground.
The Chiefs coach Rennie says it's a good way to start the season and if he'd known at the start of the year that they would going into the fifth round on 18 points, he would have taken it.
Rennie says after two big efforts against the Crusaders and Blues, and now a last-gasp win over the Brumbies, this week's bye is timely.
