Muamba's condition improves from critical to serious

The condition of Fabrice Muamba, the Bolton Wanderers footballer who suffered a cardiac arrest in a match against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, continues to improve, and he's been able to recognise family members and respond to questions appropriately.

A joint statement issued by the London Chest Hospital and Muamba's club, says the 23 year old is still able to breathe independently without a ventilator, and his condition has been upgraded from critical to serious.

Bolton's premier league match against Aston Villa scheduled for today has been postponed, and Blackburn Rovers coach Steve Kean says he'd be happy if Bolton also want to postpone their premier league meeting this weekend.
