3:32 pm on 25 March 2012

The North Shore swimmer Glenn Snyders is the first to go under the Olympic Games qualifying time on the opening morning of heats at the New Zealand Swimming Championships in Auckland.

Snyders topped qualifiers for the 100 breaststroke... his time 2/10ths of second inside the qualifying mark for London.

The 24 year old was pleased with the swim but plans to faster again in tonight's final.

Age-group star Sophia Batchelor headed qualifiers for the 100 butterfly.... while Southland's Natalie Wiegersma set herself up for a qualifying crack tonight with a solid effort in the heats of the 400 medley.
