Big toe, back and knees all giving Gillespie problems

12:02 pm on 26 March 2012

His back and his knees are causing him plenty of pain but it's the gaping mouth that's developed on his big toe which is causing New Zealand fast bowler Mark Gillespie the most grief.

Gillespie took career best test figures of six for 113 in South Africa's first innings of 474 for nine declared in the third and final test at the Basin Reserve on Sunday.

The Black Caps resumed Monday morning on 65 for none, with Daniel Flynn on 35 and Martin Guptill on 28.

It's Gillespie's third five-wicket bag in just his fifth test but it's come at a cost with the top of his left big toe being sliced open from bowling.
