England on back foot in Sri Lanka

The world's top ranked test cricket nation England are on the back foot after the second day of their first test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

England suffered another batting collapse to be all out for 193 in their first innings, after dismissing Sri Lanka for 318 .... 180 of those from Mahela Jaywardene.

But they fought back to claim five Sri Lanka second innings wickets for 84.

At the end of a day in which 17 wickets fell, Sri Lanka had an overall lead of 209 runs

The left-arm spinner Rangana Herath was the outstanding bowler for the home team claiming 6 wickets for 74.
