The England rugby hooker Dylan Hartley has been banned for eight weeks after being found guilty of biting the Ireland flanker Stephen Ferris on the final day of the Six Nations championship at Twickenham.

26 year old Hartley, the captain of Northampton, was found to have bitten Ferris's finger although the incident wasn't picked up by television cameras.

New Zealand-born Hartley, who moved to England in his early teens, served a 26-week ban for eye-gouging five years ago.
