Tigers sign Roosters NRL skipper Anasta

The Warriors may have been rocked by news of the pending departure of Kiwis utility Lewis Brown to rejoin former coach Ivan Cleary at Penrith in next season's National Rugby League - but their opponents tonight in Sydney are having to digest news their captain's defecting to some fierce crosstown rivals.

Roosters skipper Braith Anasta will play for Wests Tigers in 2013 on a two-year deal.

Off-contract at the end of the season, Anasta's future has been the subject of much speculation, with the Roosters seemingly not keen to hold onto the 30-year-old, who has been with the club since 2006.

The Tigers view the former New South Wales Origin representative as an ideal replacement for departing back-rower Gareth Ellis.
