The Parramatta skipper Nathan Hindmarsh has announced he will retire at the end of this year's National rugby League season.

The 32-year-old former New South Wales and Test back-rower will walk away from the Eels after a 15-year career that has seen him play 310 games for the club and appear in two grand finals.

Hindmarsh says he told coach Stephen Kearney and club officials it would be his last campaign at the start of the season.
