Chiefs in a good space as they jet off on three-week road trip

The high-flying Chiefs wing their way out of Auckland to South Africa high on confidence after six weeks of the Super Rugby competition.

Their win over the New South Wales Waratahs at Waikato Stadium on the weekend keeps the Chiefs at the top of the New Zealand conference alongside the Highlanders.

They face the Western Force and two South African teams, the Cheetahs and the Sharks, on the three-week road trip.

The Chiefs' All Black first five Aaron Cruden, who kicked five from five in Hamilton on Saturday night, says there's every reason to feel positive about the next phase of their season.

Cruden says teams really bond on away trips so he's sure they'll get tighter as a unit.

But he warns that while the Chiefs are in a really good space right now, they have to keep performing on the field and doing the hard work off it so they're ready to roll.
