Parramatta superstar Jarryd Hayne has sparked his Eels to their first win of the season with a 29-20 upset of National Rugby League champions Manly.
Limited to just a brief cameo back in round two due to a knee injury first suffered during the pre-season, Hayne scored a double and set up another as the Eels showed their first signs of life for 2012.
A long-range field goal from Todd Carney six minutes from fulltime gave the Cronulla Sharks a gritty 15-14 victory over the Penrith Panthers at Centrebet Stadium.
The Sydney Roosters eased past the New Zealand Warriors 26-8, also in Sydney at the Allianz Stadium.
