Hendry now NZ No.3 golfer

North Harbour golf professional Michael Hendry has climbed 169 places in the official world golf rankings following his win at the New Zealand PGA Pro-Am Championship.

The 32-year-old, who carded a four under par 68 in the final round at The Hills to win by two shots from Australian Andrew Martin and compatriot Mark Brown, jumped from 592 to 423 and is now the third highest ranked local, behind Danny Lee and David Smail.

Brown, who has a career-high ranking of 67 in the world, moves up 49 places to 533 in the world and is now the New Zealand No.6.

Meanwhile Lee, who finished tied 36th at the Shell Houston Open on the PGA Tour, consolidates his position as the national No.1, moving up five places to 160 in the world.

New Zealand No.2 David Smail drops 13 places to 336 in the world after finishing tied 34th at The Hills.

Josh Geary, who missed the cut at the NZ PGA Pro-Am, and Gareth Paddison, who finished tied 47th, complete the New Zealand top five.
