The former world golf number one Greg Norman has named Rory McIlroy as his favourite for this week's Masters tournament, despite the young Northern Irishman's meltdown at Augusta last year.
Norman says every top player has experienced a calamity at some stage, and he rang McIlroy to offer his support after he blew up on the final nine holes last year, having tried to lead all the way before plummeting to 15th.
McIlroy bounced back two months later to win the US Open brilliantly, and Norman says he's in top form and has all the elements of the game you need to cope with the unique conditions of Masters week.
