Weepu dropped from Blues starting lineup

The misfiring Blues have made several changes to their starting lineup to play the Rebels in their Super Rugby match in Melbourne on Thursday night.

All Black Piri Weepu has been dropped to the reserves as the Blues try to overcome a poor start to the season, in which they've won just one of their five games.

Weepu's been replaced at first five by Gareth Anscombe with Alby Matthewson starting at halfback.

Coach Pat Lam has finally had the luxury of naming a full strength front row with hooker Keven Mealamu returning from injury to partner All Black team-mate Tony Woodcock and Charlie Faumuina.

Back Rene Ranger returns after a two-game suspension.

The Blues sit at the bottom of the New Zealand conference and third to last overall.
