New Zealand matches best medal haul at world track cycling champs

Hawkes Bay rider Westley Gough has won bronze in the men's 4000 metre individual pursuit at the world track cycling champs in Melbourne.

It's New Zealand's fourth medal at the event and matches their efforts at the 2010 and 2011 world championships.

Meanwhile Aaron Gate has finished fourth in the 40 kilometre points race and Jo Kiesanowski finished seventh in the women's omnium.

Southland's Natasha Hansen and otago's Katie Scholfield were eliminated from the women's keirin after both finished fourth in their respective heats and third in the repechage.
