Abercrombie in doubt for first game of the ANBL grand final series

The New Zealand Breakers medical staff hope to find out more later this morning in regard to the ankle injury forward Tom Abercrombie suffered late in last night's Australian national league semi final win against the Townsville Crocodiles.

The Breakers have booked a place in the grand final series, where they will face the Perth Wildcats in the opening game this Thursday, but Abercrombie is in doubt after sustaining what was initially diagnosed as a ligament strain in his left ankle.

Abercrombie's attempt at a lay up was clumsily stopped by Townsville guard Peter Crawford who earned a unsportsmanlike foul.

The incident has been played down by the Breakers and Crawford, who both say there was no malice in the act.
